Tellington TTouch

This is Odie. He was a terribly anxious dog, living for too long a time at the Toronto Humane Society. Ttouch helped him settle and calm. And he now has a home he can call his own.

Tellington TTouch

Tellington TTouch is a very helpful for reactive dogs, fearful dogs, and dogs with overall anxiety disorders like social anxiety or separation anxiety.

A way of working with animals, Tellington TTouch aims to promote calmness and balance through the use of a variety of techniques, equipment, and approaches.

The touch aspect of TTouch has some similarities to canine massage therapy, but it is not massage therapy per se.  The movement work has some similarities to the body conditioning and proprioception exercises found in canine rehab therapy, but the use and intention are geared towards balancing the physical body, which then helps create mental and emotional balance.  And a balanced dog has more emotional flexibility, which can help them respond more appropriately, with reduced aroused or explosive behaviour.

As a Guild Certified Tellington TTouch® Practitioner, I use the specific training I have in this modality to tailor a plan for your pet that will bring him or her to their optimal state of healthy balance in the physical, mental and emotional realms.

Working with you and your dog, I will tailor these tools and techniques to your lifestyle, your comfort level, and your pet's temperament.  Ttouch will help your pet learn to relax, and gives you tools, techniques and things you can do with your dog to not only support their overall health, but will deepen your bond.

For dogs, I use:

Mindful touch, combined with different types groundwork (moving the dog through exercises using non-habitual movements), making use of various types of equipment.

This work is all underscored with the key elements of observation, intent and responsiveness.

You will be included extensively in the work we do together with your dog, so that you also gain useful tools you can use on your own with your dog.
